About Us

Welcome At CEL Initiatives, we believe that every child deserves a fair chance at success, regardless of socioeconomic background. Our mission is to bridge the gap between policy and practice by advocating for equitable school funding, providing direct support to underfunded schools, and empowering communities to drive sustainable change.

Our Mission

At Compass for Equitable Learning Initiative, we are committed to transforming education into a force for equity and opportunity. We bridge the gap between policy and practice by advocating for fair and sustainable school funding, equipping underfunded schools with the tools and support they need, and empowering communities to drive lasting educational change. Through research, direct interventions, and strategic partnerships, we work to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has access to the quality education they deserve.

Our Vision

A future where every child, no matter their zip code or socioeconomic status, has access to a fully resourced, high-quality education that nurtures their potential, fuels their ambitions, and unlocks pathways to success. We envision a world where schools are centers of opportunity, educators are empowered and supported, and communities are active partners in shaping an equitable education system for all.

Founder

Dr. Ololade Serifat Omosunlade

Compass for Equitable Learning Initiative was born from a simple but urgent truth, a child’s future should not be determined by their zip code, family income, or the resources their school can afford. Every child deserves a fair chance at success. But for too many, that chance is denied before they even set foot in a classroom.

Dr. Ololade Serifat Omosunlade has spent her life in education; not just in theory, but in action. She has taught in classrooms, researched solutions, and fought for policies that ensure students, especially those from underserved communities, get the opportunities they deserve. But beyond data and policy, she has seen the heartbreak of inequity up close; schools without enough books, teachers stretching themselves thin to make up for what the system lacks, and students full of promise but held back by barriers beyond their control.

Her journey in education was not just a career; it was a calling. With a Bachelor’s degree in Teacher Education and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, she built a deep understanding of how broken the system is and how urgently it needs to change. But knowledge alone wasn’t enough. She wanted action. She wanted impact. She wanted change.

And so, CEL Initiatives was born, not as another think tank, but as a force for real, tangible solutions. A movement that bridges the gap between research and reality, giving schools the tools they need, ensuring educators have the support they deserve, and making sure every child has the resources to reach their full potential.

This is not just about education. This is about justice. It is about ensuring no student is left behind, no teacher fights alone, and no school struggles in silence.

Now is the time to act. Join us. Stand with us. Because when we fight for educational equity, we fight for a future where every child has the chance to thrive.
